Calcium Chloride Hexahydrate ‘melts’ at above 29°C, it absorbs a lot of heat. When the temp drops and the hexahydrate solidifies again, it gives off the heat. By this mechanism it helps to regulate temperature. The Calcium Chloride Hexahydrate is known as a ‘phase change material’ or PCM.

This application is particularly useful for the control of the temperature within structures such as greenhouses (glasshouses) and electronic equipment shelters, which should not significantly exceed about 30°C.
